OUR RICH HISTORY ON LAKE GEORGE

Why We’re Here

At Queen Boat Co, we want to help you make memories with family and friends by making the boating experience easy and enjoyable. We believe that we are in the customer service business and just happen to be lucky enough that for us, it involves boats and Lake George. From the moment you walk (or boat) in we want you to feel like part of the Queen Boat Co family. Come experience the royal treatment on the Queen of the American Lakes.

What We Do

Our marina includes a full service department, dockage, winter storage, non-ethanol fuel dock, ships store, the Lake George Freedom Boat Club franchise, and a sustainable boating division.

How We Got Here

Queen Boat Co., the former Dunhams Bay Boat Co., was purchased by Rebecca and Matt O'Hara in the fall of 2018. The O'Haras moved to the Lake George region in 2016 from Boston to launch the Freedom Boat Club Lake George. Rebecca's family has been on Assembly Point since the early 1940's and she spent her summers and family holidays there. After meeting in Boston, they got married in Lake George and decided that they eventually wanted to move upstate to start a family (and now have three future dock hands in the family). Freedom Boat Club had been a client of Matt's in his former career in media sales and they thought the hassle-free membership boating concept would be a hit on Lake George. They connected with Beckley's Marina in Diamond Point and for three years operated the marina as well as the boat club. When the opportunity to purchase the property at 10 Dunhams Bay Rd came up, they thought the timing was perfect to expand the club to meet increasing demand and further build towards their vision of how a marina should serve its guests.

Who We Are

We are family owned and operated with the best team on Lake George helping our guests experience the ultimate in boating hospitality. We pride ourselves on our full time and seasonal team retention and our guests enjoy seeing familiar faces assisting them year in and year out

"We are thrilled to call Queen Boat Co. our new home and can't wait to welcome all of our boaters. Our customer-service focused team will help make sure your day on the water is a great one. We look forward to helping more and more people enjoy the boating lifestyle. And we are so excited to be working every day just down the road from the home our family has had since 1942 and the marina we have driven by thousands of time. Our goal is to make this the premiere marina on Lake George and hope you will stop in, say hi, and give us some feedback on how we are doing. We look forward to meeting you and your boat!"

Matt O’Hara

After spending 15 years in Boston, Matt was excited to move back to his home state of New York with his wife Rebecca and their newborn daughter to launch Freedom Boat Club Lake George. Matt’s love of the water began at an early age and though he didn’t grow up owning a boat, many of his favorite experiences could be traced back to time on the water. From deep sea fishing in Montauk, to sailing through the British Virgin Islands, to his rehearsal dinner with wife Rebecca aboard the Morgan on Lake George, boating has always held a special place in his heart and he is thrilled that he can now help others develop this love for boating and make memories on Lake George. On his days off, you’ll find Matt with his wife and 3 kids swimming in Sandy Bay or off the dock at his in-laws.

Rebecca O’Hara

Rebecca grew up in Rochester, NY but spent many of her holidays and much of her summers at her grandparent’s house on Assembly Point, which her grandfather built in the early 1940’s. Rebecca was part of a boating family and got to experience all the joys of being around Lake George her whole life while developing all the necessary Lake skills like boat handling, waterskiing, and s’more making. It is of extra importance to Rebecca to pass on her love of Lake George and recognition of how vital it is to keep the lake clean and healthy to their three kids. On her days off, you’ll find Rebecca enjoying boating, canoeing, kayaking and swimming with their three kids, nieces and nephews.

Adam Riley

Growing up, Adam’s Grandfather was a Parks Commission ranger and Adam got to spend summer days trailing him and learning all about boats and Lake George. That love of boating has served him well as he got into the boating industry working at F.R. Smith and Sons. Adam has been with Queen Boat Co since 2018. Adam has a tremendous ability to combine technical skill with non-technical communication to make sure our customers understand the service needs of their boat.

Lexy Metivier

Lexy spent two years as a Dock Master in between college semesters. After graduating in May 2021, Lexy was recognized for her tireless work ethic and great customer service skills with a promotion to a full time role as a Dock Manager. Lexy has grown up on and around Lake George in a passionate boating family. Lexy graduated with a focus in marketing and has marketing and social media responsibilities when not on the dock. On her days off, you’ll find Lexy cruising the lake either at the helm, or on her wakeboard behind the boat.

Jeff Majak

Jeff has spent decades boating and fishing on Lake George and we are thrilled he decided to also spend some time working on the Lake. Jeff brings his years of corporate financial and operations experience to the Queen Boat Co team to help us improve customer experience across the board. You may encounter Jeff helping the service department, training Freedom Boat Club members, chipping in on a busy day on the dock, or leading boat tours. The jack of all trades keeps the whole team running and our customers happy.

Travis Blackmer

Travis has been with Queen Boat Co since 2021 and has excelled in a variety of roles. While Travis can fix just about anything on or off the water, you will now find him making sure we have the parts our customers need and helping keep the service department and operation organized and tidy. You might also see him and his dog Rebel enjoying the lake on his restored classic boat or ripping up and down on his jet ski.
