Boating Season Is Here!

OK so it is still a little chilly out, but boats are on the lake! Our fuel dock is open, and our Freedom Boat Club fleet is in the water. It is great to be back and see some activity out there. It's not quite swimming weather but this early season boating can be magical. Just watch out for the debris from the winter. This time of year, you can find some unexpected surprises floating or just below the surface.

Great Upstate Boat Show Around the Corner

The Great Upstate Boat Show will be taking place March 26th-March 29th, at Afrims dome in Queensbury. This is the largest boat show between NYC and Montreal! Many of the larger shows happen earlier in the year, making this one of the last best chances to score a great deal on your next (or first) boat. We will be there representing Highfield boats as well as the Freedom Boat Club Lake George, and will be sharing space with our friends at Freedom Boat Club of The Great Sacandaga. There are many other great lifestyle vendors exhibiting as well. It is a great opportunity to explore all the great things boating has to offer and we hope to see you there!

Here's a great New Year's Resolution.....boat more! We try to make enjoying Lake George as easy as possible so that you can spend your time making memories, and there isn't a better way to do it than by boating.

People ask us all the time - so what do you do in the 'off season'? Well, there is a not as busy season but no such thing as an off season. There is a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into making sure we are ready to provide our guests with the best boating experience possible and we are hard at work getting it done.

Best Team In The World!

We had a great time yesterday celebrating our hard working team. They bust their you know what day in and day out to make sure our customer's can enjoy their boating experience on Lake George. We took a few of the Freedom Boat Club boats up to Sarah Island for some swimming and water activity, then headed back to the marina for Ty's Taco-Ria tacos. It was a fun day and well deserved!

Marina Events!

Our Marina Community Is Vibrant!

One of the things we love about this business is the opportunity we get to foster a sense of community around the marina. Boaters always seem to have something in common (boating) and it is easy for our guests to make great connections.

Last week, we hosted a really cool event on the deck with Common Roots Brewing , artist Tom Myott , and Antonio's Bayside Bistro . Beer tasting, art displays, and great food....a wonderful time was had by all! We have several other fun events coming up including our kids boating class, our sunrise yoga session, and our always popular end of year party!

The July weather has been mostly spectacular on Lake George, with a couple of nasty thunderstorms thrown in the mix. The water temperatures have steadily been in the mid-70s so it is a great time to find that mooring or anchoring spot and hop in for a swim.

Time to Get Boating!

I didn't think we were ever going to see two sunny days in a row but we've finally had some good boating weather! The picture above is our Aqua superPower charger in use, giving some juice to our Highfield 660 powered by a Flux electric motor. The fast charge allows it to get back on the water between Freedom Boat Club reservations.

Speaking of Freedom Boat Club, we opened a new location in Bolton Landing at the Water's Edge Marina! We put 5 new boats there and are thrilled to give members a new launching point to explore northern parts of the lake from.

The water levels have been crazy high all spring due to the rain but are starting to come down ever so slightly, and the water is starting to warm up. We're beginning to see lots of swimmers out there. Come on down and check out what's happening at Queen Boat Co and get your summer started now!

Dock Work Complete

Dock Project Complete!

Every 'off season' we find something to improve and make safer around the marina. This year, we had to build out some concrete for our forklift to use and replace a section of dock along the Butler building that was caving in. Thanks to Rick White and his crew we have a beautiful new wood dock to show off!

Boats are going in the water every day. If you haven't scheduled your spring launch yet, what are you waiting for? We are having some great boating days. Just need to watch out for the early season debris in the water!

We are hitting one of our busiest times of the year in the service department - spring launch! Over the winter and just before everyone wants their boats in the water, we get to tackle some bigger jobs, like this transom rebuild on a Formula 330! Always interesting seeing the engines out of the boat! Our service team can tackle all kinds of jobs big and small.

The Freedom Boat Club opens up in less than 2 weeks, on May 12th this year. The marina will start feeling busy pretty quickly once that happens and we look forward to welcoming customers back for another year of boating!

We're liquidating apparel in our marina store to make room for new inventory so if you are in the area, come on by for a great deal!

Is Boating Season Here?

It was finally sunny and warm today after a cold April stretch, and we saw boats on the water (and even got a gas customer). We are hoping we are finally done with the cold and it is nothing but warm boating weather ahead. We've got most of the Freedom Boat Club fleet in the water at our docks and customer boats going in soon. The service team is busy doing spring commissioning for all of our service customers and getting boats out the door as fast as we can.

Our store is getting put back together and our Highfield and electric motor showrooms are coming to life.

We love this time of year!

We are now dealers for Lillipad Marine ! Specializing in diving boards and boarding ladders, we are in the process of completing two projects on customer pontoons that made us think there might be some more demand for these fun products! We have our first boats in the water, though I wouldn't say it is boating weather just yet. We've got a few more weeks til it really warms up and Lake George becomes more hospitable to the boating crowd but we are getting excited for it!

2025 Great Upstate Boat Show

March is here....which means we are closing in on the Great Upstate Boat Show ! This is the largest boat show between New York City and Montreal, and a great time to get an amazing deal on new and pre-owned boat inventory. Winter Carnival Season

Winter has really hit Lake George! Thanks to Dylan James Cole for stopping by the marina and sending us this great photo of Queen Boat Co covered in snow. And with the snow today and more expected this weekend, it will soon be even more covered.

The Winter Carnival began this past weekend and with the frozen lake, many of the fun events we have missed the past couple years are back (Outhouse races anyone?).

Happy 2025!

We hope everyone enjoyed the Holiday season! Maybe even got some new fun boating accessories. We find the 'off season' time very valuable as it gives us an opportunity to take a long look at the business, our processes, and the experience we provide our guests and make improvements each year. The New Year often means two more things - a frozen lake, and boat show season. At long last, it looks like there is some real ice forming on the lake. The temps the next week + look amenable to further freezing, good news for the Lake George Winter Carnival ! Boat show season allows a sneak peak at all the great new boats hitting the market, boating technology, and offers some incredible deals on in stock dealer inventory. We will be participating in the Great Upstate Boat Show in March with our Highfield Boats and Freedom Boat Club retired fleet boats. One of the coolest boating exhibits happened at the Consumer Electronics Show where Brunswick once again showed off the latest tech including Boating Intelligence, an eFoil simulator, autonomous docking and a high power electric propulsion system.

New Equipment!

New Forklift

We have been searching for a forklift for quite awhile and finally found a great unit that met our needed specs. It got delivered yesterday and we are so excited to put it to use. It will make our service operation run much more efficiently which will benefit our service customers as we get them out of the water and back in more quickly.

We're almost through winterizing boats and it has been amazing how warm it has stayed (until this week). We still see a boat in the water here and there but it looks like for just about everyone, boating season has wrapped up.

Now is a great time to put those boating wants and needs on your holiday gift list so you are ready to enjoy boating even more next year!

Fall on Lake George

The great weather has mostly continued through October. We are looking at a 70 degree day on Halloween tomorrow! We still see a boat or two out here or there but the boating season is mostly done. We are working hard to get all our customer's boats winterized and wrapped before the weather really turns. We've still got some great Highfield boats and retiring Freedom Boat Club boats for sale and we'll be able to show them all winter long. We've also got a couple of ePropulsion motors in stock.

If you are waiting until the last minute to make arrangements to get your boat put away, call now so you don't get left out in the cold!

October Is Here and is Great!

We are always a bit sad when the calendar changes from September to October as the reality of boating season coming to a close sets in. This September was absolutely spectacular. Incredible weather the whole month, great boating day after great boating day. But October has its advantages for those looking to get that last little extra bit of time on Lake George. We are in peak foliage season so the scenery around the lake is beautiful. The temperatures are still warm, though we would recommend layered clothing (and blankets on board are never a bad idea). The lake is very quiet and calm, it almost feels like your own private lake some days.

We had a great member and guest celebration over the weekend with live music and delicious food from Queen of Harts pizza. We are so thankful to have such gracious customers!

Our marina store is having a great apparel sale through the end of the year. It is a great time to get some nice Lake George swag before we close up for the winter.

And it's not too late to get your boat scheduled for winterization and storage! Our service team stands ready!

This September has been absolutely spectacular on Lake George. The days have been sunny and warm, water temperature has maintained at just above 70 degrees for those afternoon swims, and the lake has just been like glass. September might just be our favorite month to boat when the weather is like this and the boat traffic has died down considerably. We are even starting to see some of the fall foliage colors popping. If you can get on a boat this weekend, do it!

Celebrating Our Team!

This dedicated group of people works their tails off all year long to keep our customers on the water and enjoying Lake George. Marina Events!

Marina Events

We want our guests to feel that the marina is more than just a place to get on and off their boats. We love the sense of community and camaraderie among our boaters and have had some great opportunities to help that spirit grow! Last week we welcomed the Kona Ice truck to the marina for some delicious frozen treats. The timing couldn't have been better as it was a crazy hot day and this was welcome relief. We also had a great social gathering across the street at Antonios Bayside Bistro . We have some more exciting things happening in August including some live music on the roof deck and a visit from Cooley's Ice Cream Truck!

July has really been an extraordinary boating month. We have had some of the hottest weather and nicest days in recent memory across the whole month. The Lake George water temps are nearing 80 degrees in some spots! Mixed in with this was a wild storm that caused serious damage on some of the camping islands and some harrowing conditions for those out on the islands during the storm. We did not have the high winds in the bay that other areas on the lake experienced.

As July starts to wrap up, we wish everyone a great rest of the month and we hope to see you around the marina!

Come Check Out Our New Boats!

Wow, what a month July has been! Can't remember a better stretch of early July weather ever. And the boating levels sure prove it. Our gas dock and boat club have been slamming for weeks now. It is great seeing so many people enjoying Lake George boating!

We got our first shipment of Highfield Boats in, and they are awesome. So excited to share these with customers and let them see what boating on a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) is like!

We got a visit today from Taiga Motors and a collection of their Orca PWCs . They are visiting from Montreal and showing that with our Aqua superPower fast charger, you can enjoy a full day on the lake aboard their cutting edge jet skis. The Orcas tout two hours or run time, 40 minutes to recharge, and of course the benefits of the electric motor including zero noise, zero emissions, zero smell and still high performance. It was fun to check out the machines and get to know the team behind them.

Great Fishing to Start the Year!

Our boaters have been crushing it so far this year, reeling in some monster bass already! It is great to see the fishery alive and well. Fishing on Lake George is one of our guests favorite activities and the bass, trout, and salmon action is awesome. There are some really great fishing guides on the lake and we highly recommend taking a charter trip with one of them to level up your angling game. Queen Boat Co Now Representing Highfield Boats!

We are very excited, and honored, to now be representing the Highfield Boats brand! Highfield makes Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) with aluminum hulls and outboard motors. We think there is a great opportunity for this style of boat on lakes and rivers throughout the region. The powder coated aluminum hulls and rigid inflatable tubes combine for an awesome and safe riding boat. The applications are many - as a primary boat on some of the smaller lakes, as a second boat for bigger bodies of water like Lake George (particularly if you have children who aren't quite ready to take the big boat, these are great to learn on), for law enforcement and other municipalities with the Patrol line, and even our Freedom Boat Club is exploring it is part of their fleet!

Our first shipment should arrive in mid-June and we can't wait to have them here to show!

Splash Time

May is almost here. It still doesn't quite feel like spring on Lake George most mornings but the afternoons have been getting nicer. We are starting to launch boats and are getting excited for those sunny days on the water coming soon.

Solar Eclipse!

Solar Eclipse Viewing

We had an awesome time watching the solar eclipse from the roof deck! Members and dock customers were invited to watch the moon cover up the sun over the lake. While Lake George wasn't in the path of 100% totality, we were about 99% and still experienced the sky getting darker and temperature dropping as the moon covered more and more of the sun, until there was just a tiny sliver left. It was great to welcome back our boating friends and start getting excited about the 2024 boating season!

We are in the shop getting boats ready this week! It won't be long until Queen Boat Co and Freedom Boat Club get busy again and we can start seeing all the smiling faces enjoy the water!

BoatClass - Hands On Boater Training

We are very excited to begin offering BoatClass this year at our marina, through the Freedom Boat Club. BoatClass is a hands on, on-the-water training program designed to make boating safer for all. We will be offering the class twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All trainees must have their NASBLA safe boaters card before taking BoatClass. Here are some of the frequently asked questions about BoatClass. For more information or to register, click HERE .

What exactly is BoatClass™?

BoatClass is an on-the-water training program available to individuals, age 21 and older, where you do most of the driving. Launched earlier this year at certain Freedom Boat Club locations, BoatClass teaches boating safety and maneuvering skills to beginners as well as boaters looking for a training refresh. Certified US Coast Guard captains lead 3-hour basic courses starting at only $199. Classes are convenient and affordable, not to mention – effective! Before taking BoatClass the average customer rated their boating skills and confidence on average a “3” on a scale of 1-10. This number jumps to about a “7” after participating in a training session with BoatClass.

How much does BoatClass cost?

We charge by the seat. The cost is $199 per student per weekday class, and $249 per student per weekend class.

Can I reserve an entire boat if it's just me or if I don't have the max number of people to fill the boat in my party?

So glad you asked; absolutely! In fact, we have customers that do it all the time and we encourage it. We understand that some people prefer more 1-on-1 time with the captain, while others like the experience of learning in a group atmosphere. In order to reserve an entire boat for an entire session, you will need to book all three available seats on the boat and would be responsible for all three student fees for that session. If a class already has a seat reserved, you will not be able to book all three seats for yourself.

How do I sign up?

Just choose the best location for you based on our class list on BoatClass.com, and you will be directed to our scheduling and payment system. Choose the date and time that best fits your schedule, then pay. It’s that easy!

What size boat is used for training?

BoatClass uses a range of 22’ – 24’ recreational boats.

Do I get anything for completing the class?

You will receive a certificate of completion immediately following the class provided that your BoatClass Captain confirms approval of your successful course completion. You will also receive a special Freedom Boat Club promotional offer valid for 2024 graduates only (see link and Terms and Conditions of offer.)

Is the BoatClass® curriculum offered online?

As a relatively new offering in the market, we chose to emphasize 100% on-the-water training at this time because we feel there’s no substitute for hands-on learning.

We encourage you to check with your local boat rental company or insurance provider to see if they will honor your BoatClass training toward any requirements or special offerings as well.

Do you offer training on my own boat?

Our program focuses on Basic BoatClass on-water training using a Freedom Boat Club boat. We do not currently offer training on the individual student’s boat.

Is there a class for kids?

Not at this time. BoatClass participants must be 21 or older (25 and older for some markets).

Boat Show Season

Winter is here....kind of. Lake George started to ice over but we have seen a good chunk of it disappear with some rain and warmer temps. Hard to imagine a deep lake freeze coming at this point but you never know!

The early reports are that demand for boats is picking back up which is great news. We still have several late model boats available for sale, click on over to our Boats for Sale tab to check them out.

A lot of big news in the electric boating world as well! Yamaha purchased Torqeedo, who had just announced a new Travel line of motors . ePropulsion has also unveiled new product recently with their X series higher powered line and separately the smalles motor in their lower power range, the eLite . Mercury is not getting left behind, showing off their higher powered Avator series.

Fall Foliage

Fall Foliage On Lake George

October picked up where September left off with dry weather and warmer than usual days for this time of year. While most boats are already out of the water and in storage, there are still a handful taking in the beautiful fall foliage on the lake every day. We've got some nice colors popping around the marina. Our service department is cranking in their busiest time of year getting everyone's boat ready for winter. It is a great time to thoroughly go through your boat and plan any maintenance, repair, or upgrade work so you can get it done before you start boating in the spring. Our dock staff is officially done for the year and fuel dock closed. We want to again thank them for doing such an awesome job this year!

September - A Great Month for Boating on Lake George

This year, September has turned out to be the best boating month of the year on Lake George. Starting with an absolutely incredible Labor Day weekend with perfect weather and boating conditions, we have had more non-rainy days in September than maybe July and August combined. We are starting to see the leaves turn making Lake George even more scenic and beautiful. Water temps have started to drop so swimming is a little less comfortable right now but the beauty of the foliage and lack of boat traffic make up for it. And this coming weekend looks to be another perfect one with temperatures in the high 70s and sunshine both Saturday and Sunday!

While we are enjoying our last few boat trips, it is a good time to take stock of any off season projects you want done on the boat. Winter is a great time to get things fixed, replaced, and upgraded so you aren't losing boating time next spring or summer.

Time to Schedule Winterization

We do not wish the boating season away, but as Labor Day approaches, it is time to start planning for the dreaded off season. We do full winterization services and storage, as well as any number of custom service, maintenance, or upgrades. Customers can use this LINK to schedule service. The calendar does start filling up so the sooner we get the request, the more timely we can be in handling it!

It looks like a great week ahead for the holiday weekend, and next week looks like it might be the nicest we've had all summer! Right in time for kids to go back to school :(

Annual Staff Celebration

We are so lucky to have such an amazing and dedicated group of team members and love our annual staff appreciation day! This year, we grabbed a couple of picnic spots on Speaker Heck Island and had some yummy food, played games, swam, detoured to Calves Pen for some cliff jumping, and enjoyed a great day together!

This group works so hard making sure our customers have a good experience and we are so happy to have the chance to thank them each year.

One of the most commonly asked for items is here - the bottle opener/corkscrew! While we certainly encourage safe boating and sober skippers, sometimes the guests on board need to get a bottle open and this seems to be something that is always forgotten. Well now just pop into the store and we've got you taken care of! And while you're in there, check out all our other items including ice cream, snacks, drinks, and anything you might need for your boat.

July has been better than June, even with the smokey haze rolling in here and there from the Canadian wildfires. We are in the middle of a great stretch right now which has led to a lot more action on the lake and on the docks. We are still only halfway through our boating season so lots of great time on Lake George left this year!

Finally, a warm, sunny day. June was not the best boating month, and July picked right up with the wildfire smoke blanketing Lake George to start the holiday weekend and a rainy Sunday. But, things took a turn and we had an amazing 4th of July! And it looks like a few more days of this beautiful sunshine to close out the week. We may have had the busiest day we've ever had on the gas dock yesterday so there were definitely plenty of people out enjoying the lake. And it sounds like everyone was boating safely with minimal incidents which is really great.

If you have a boat, now is the time to get out and use it!

Don't Trust the Weather Anchors!

If there is one thing we are constantly reminded of, it's that just because it says it is going to rain on TV does not mean it is a lost boating day. We are seeing a lot of days where the forecast says 50% chance of rain, but that can mean rain at 2am or 10pm. We are stressing to all of our boaters to check the hourly forecast rather than just write off a day as a rain out. Let the other people get scared away and enjoy a quieter, less crowded lake until the rain comes. This picture was taken on a day a lot of our boat club members cancelled because of the forecast and would have had an incredible morning on the lake!

We've got some pre-owned boats for sale from customers who can no longer get use out of them on Lake George. Stop by to check them out if you are in the market!

Let's hope the forecasts call for nothing but sun next week so we can all enjoy the 4th of July holiday and week and spend lots of time on the water!

Summer Is Here!

Boating Weather Has Arrived

At long last, the boating season has really begun in earnest. We had a very slow start to June with rain, overcast skies, and heavy winds consistently making the boating unpleasant. But finally, right in time for school to get out, the weather has turned and we have sunshine and warm temps on Lake George. And it shows! The boat traffic has been up considerably this week compared to the rest of the month and we couldn't be happier about it.

We have seen some great fish getting reeled in by our Freedom Boat Club members, particularly some big bass. The water temps have warmed up enough so that swimming is finally enjoyable. It is truly a great time to get boating and our fingers are crossed that the poor June weather means we'll have a great July and August!

Ribbon Cutting

Aqua superPower Ribbon Cutting

We hosted a great ribbon cutting event to announce the opening of our Aqua superPower charging station! We had three electric boats available for test rides, the Hacker-Craft Aquavant, and the Ingenity EL and Super Air Nautique GS22E. The boats all looked stunning and the feedback on the demo rides was incredibly positive. We had a great group of people and so many to thank for turning up. Our Lake George and Adirondack Chambers of Commerce were there with ribbons and big scissors to lend their support. Representatives from many of the critical local agencies charged with protecting the lake were there including the Lake George Parks Commission and the DEC. We even had a speech delivered on behalf of Governor Hochul! This is the first marina electric charging station east of Michigan and we could not be more proud.

Now all we need is some good weather on Lake George so people can start enjoying their boats! It has been a pretty dismal June so let's hope that means we will make up for it in July and August!

Charging the Electric Hacker-Craft Aquavant

We were very happy to welcome the Hacker-Craft team as they came in to tes out our new Aqua superPower charging station. The Hacker Aquavant is an absolutely stunning piece of boat building. Measuring at 27' with a top speed of around 31mph, the all electric Aquavant is going to be a huge hit. Hacker-Craft has been building boats since 1908 and it is so cool to have such a treasure located right around the corner. Can't wait to see more of these out on Lake George!

Great Memorial Day Weekend!

What a Weekend!

I can't remember a better Memorial Day Weekend on Lake George. The weather was perfect....PERFECT. Sunny, warm, light breeze. It was great to see so many customers out using their boats. The Freedom fleet was rocking and on the water all weekend. Our fuel dock was busy and we saw a lot of customers come in to get their Parks Commission registration sticker, a good sign that everyone who was waiting finally got their boat in the water.

Thank you to everyone who visited over the weekend and to our hard working team who gave up their Holiday weekend to serve our guests. If this is a sign of what's to come this summer, it is going to be a great one!

The Results Are In!

We can't even describe how proud we are of our awesome team for winning their 4th consecutive Best of Region - Best Marina award given by The Post Star each year. There is so much hard work that goes on behind the scenes to keep this place running and then the positive attitude everyone brings to each customer interaction really shines through. From service, to dock, to operations, bookkeeping....every single person that is part of this team gives 110% and the results speak for themselves!

We are also so excited about the forecast for this holiday weekend. Lake George is going to be hopping with 5 days of sunshine and warm temps ahead. It is much needed after much of May has been cold and windy and we have a feeling that just about everyone that can be on a boat will at some point this weekend.

We Take Service Seriously

Our Customer Service Champion Belt is back! We take a lot of pride in the level of service we provide to our boat club members, dock customers, fuel dock guests and anyone who walks in our store or shows up at our docks! And each week, we award the belt to a team member who has gone above and beyond in helping make sure our boaters have a great experience at Queen Boat Co. Congrats to Kirk for winning week 1!

It has been a chilly and windy start o May (50 degree high today and 15mph plus winds) but it looks like it will start turning around soon. Memorial Day is right around the corner and we can't wait!

Aqua superPower Charger Installed!

Our DC Fast Charger is Installed!

Very exciting week here as our Aqua superPower fast charger was installed on the docks! We are one of the first marinas in the US to have one of these installed and it has been great working with the Aqua team. We will have a grand opening event in June to help bring attention to the ways that electric boating can help keep Lake George clean!

The Freedom Boat Club opened for members on Monday and it has been great getting foot traffic back to the dock. We have had sunny days so far but still a bit on the chilly side in the morning. It is such an awesome time to enjoy boating on Lake George before all the summer crowds arrive!

The Electric Tritoon is In!

The Freedom Boat Club launched their electric 23' tritoon today. It is a Cypress Cay Seabreeze 233 powered by a Flux Marine 25kW outboard. It is exciting to have a brand new technology being utilized right in front of our eyes. We are looking forward to hearing what the Freedom Boat Club members think about this boat and wonder if we'll see any more of these around the lake this summer!

May has been pretty dreary and rainy, but things are looking up next week and we expect to see more boaters out there enjoying Lake George!

Come On Weather!

The Freedom Boat Club Fleet is almost all the way in, the work boat is in, and customer boats are following. We have seen a few boats here and there at other marinas as well and have started serving some gas customers. It is an exciting time as the anticipation of warmer weather ramps up. The next week still looks chilly but we keep getting teased with periods of sunshine. We are out there able to pump gas for anyone who is braving the temps right now and the service crew is rocking and rolling getting boats commissioned and in the water for our customers.

First Boats In

It has been a really exciting week here! The warm weather has allowed us to get a jumpstart on spring commissioning and boat launching and we've got a few docked at the marina already! The service team is working fast and furious to get customers boats ready for the spring. It looks like it'll cool down again next week but after that, game on!

There is still time to get on the service calendar if you need your boat commissioned or any additional work. Our skilled team of technicians can handle a wide range of marine repair, maintenance, new equipment installs and more.

We had our first gas customer today and fuel dock is OPEN! Gas prices have come down quite a bit since last year so hopefully that helps more people spend more time on the water.

We can't wait to get this boating season rolling on Lake George!

Time to Get Ready to Boat!

This is an exciting time of the year for us! We had a great boat show this past weekend with over 3,000 boaters attending the Great Upstate Boat Show, the first time we have had it since 2019. There was a lot of interest in our electric motors and two other electric boats were on display - the Ingenity and a Chris Craft. All the dealers put on a great show and got a lot of new happy customers in new boats.

The ice went out as well which allows us to get an earlier start on things. Sometimes we are frozen over well into April. The service team was in the shop Monday ramping up. We have two techs at Mercury school this week leveling up their skills so we can provide the best service possible to our customers.

The spring launch calendar is filling up and we are encouraging everyone to get on there as fast as they can!

Features Added to Website

We just added some great features to our website. If you click on the menu, you now have access to Boat Financing Quotes, Insurance Quotes, and a robust Marine Products Store! We sell boats out of the Freedom Boat Club fleet every year and always have some great late model boats in near new condition for sale. These features will make the buying process even easier.

Also....what.a.storm! Looks to be about 2 feet of wet, heavy snow around Lake George. We lost power at the marina yesterday morning and still haven't gotten it back. Hope that is the last of the winter storms and we can start to thaw out and get boats ready for the spring!

Electric Charging on the Docks

Electric Boat Fast Charger

We have been working with Aqua superPower to plan and install a DC fast charger near our fuel dock. As more and more people get interested in the benefits of electric boating, we believe a robust charging network will be necessary to support those boaters. The Aqua charger is accessed through a cloud based app so boaters can locate all the chargers in the network and pay for their charge right in the app! The charger will use the international CCS charging standard to ensure safety, reliability, and widespread use among many different manufacturers boats and motor.

There are some really great electric options on the market, and many more on the way. We can't wait to help them enjoy boating.

We had the pleasure of heading down to Cape Coral, FL, for the annual Freedom Boat Club franchise conference. It is a great opportunity to meet vendor partners, connect with other franchisees and marina owners to share best practices, and of course test drive a bunch of great new boats! All the Brunswick brands were there - Sea Ray, Bayliner, Boston Whaler, Cypress Cay, Harris, Princecraft....and the new electric Veer! The DEC released some really great news for boaters who enjoy stopping at the islands for a picnic or swim. What used to be a very labor intensive process - get up early, head to ranger station to get pass, go back and pick up your friends who slept in and didn't get to the dock on time :) - is now going to be done online! You can reserve a Lake George day use pass up to 7 days in advance, can see real time availability on the water, and can reserve right from the app while on your boat! This is going to really improve the boating experience on Lake George, thank you DEC!

Not So Winter Weather

This photo was taken last week and if you didn't know any better, you might think it was a beautiful spring day on the lake! The winter has been very mild so far, which always sounds good but there are some things in the North country we really do enjoy about winter. We want the ski mountains to be getting and making tons of snow so we can enjoy local favorites like West Mountain, Gore, and Willard where our kids do ski school. We want the Ice Castles to have another banner year and can't wait to visit them ourselves this year as we hear they are supposed to be bigger and better than last year. We want a nice freeze on the lake so the ice fishermen can enjoy their sport and so that the health of the lake can get restored. So while I don't mind being able to go out without all my winter gear on every day, and the savings in heating bills, there are some good reason to root for some winter over the next month or two.

Happy New Year!

2023 is here and the changing of the calendar gets us that much closer to the 2023 boating season! It seems like we just emptied out the docks and yet, in the blink of an eye, we'll be splashing boats again.

There are a lot of exciting things happening in the boating world. Mercury Marine just unveiled their first electric motor, the Avator . Sustainability continues to be a big focus as manufacturers are looking at the entire lifecycle of each boat from the materials that go into making it, the carbon emissions of the factories producing it, and how it can get disposed of (or even recycled!) at the end of its useful life. On board electronics and tech continue advancing at rapid rates. Companies like Seakeeper continue to innovate on stabilization products to provide a smoother ride. Marinas are working hard to improve their service and increase amenities for boaters. There isn't a better time to enjoy boating and we hope you will do so in 2023!

Electric Test Drive

Test Drive with Flux Marine

Boating isn't completely dead in the Northeast come December! We headed down to Bristol, RI to test drive some Flux Marine electric outboard motors, ranging from 15hp to 100hp. Unfortunately, though we were prepared for inclement weather, the pouring rain made it a bit less enjoyable so we only tried one boat on the water. The Scout 210 Dorado with the Flux 100hp motor moved great, was quiet, and the throttle control was very smooth. We will be using a Flux motor on a pontoon boat in the boat club next year and after this test drive we are even more excited!

Childrens Museum at Saratoga Boating Exhibit

We had a lot of fun working with the Childrens Museum at Saratoga on their Let's Go Boating Exhibit! The Museum recently relocated from an old building in downtown Saratoga Springs to the Lincoln Baths building with a complete rebuild and all new exhibits. We were honored to partner with them on fostering an early interest in boating, and developing boating skills! The refurbished boat includes an upcycled steering wheel and throttle from one of our old boats :)

There is a life jacket loaner station encouraging boat safety, a fishing game, learning to tie knots, and a panel on wildlife in addition to the boat itself. What a great way to show off boating!

Great Upstate Boat Show

The Great Upstate Boat Show is Coming Back!

Our last boat show was in 2019! I remember well the meeting in early 2020 discussing the show and how to proceed with Covid looming. It was a very hard pill to swallow when we finally had to decide the show could not move forward, and we have not been able to do it since. Well, that is changing, as the Great Upstate Boat Show will return in 2023! There will be so many new products and lots of evolution in boat models to see compared to what was last displayed in 2019. It will be a great show and we are so excited to be working with all of the other local boat dealers to get this going again. Mark your calendars!

Spectacular Fall Boating

October has brought some great fall boating! One of the Freedom Boat Club members sent us this shot and we thought it was great!

Our service team is entering their busiest time of the year. It is a race against the clock to make sure every boat is winterized before it gets too cold. So of the freezing temps can hold off just a bit longer, we'd appreciate it. Our team does it all - we even go pick customers boats up at their docks and get them out of the water and into storage. Totally full service. The boat shows back up to the dock in the spring ready to go!

This is a good time to think about any upgrades you are looking for. Better to tackle it now than in the summer when the boat should be in the water being used!

It will top 70 degrees today and the foliage is popping! What a great day to be out on the water. We love this time of year. All of the Freedom Boat Club boats are going out today for the first time in awhile, it is really great to see!

Aerial Views of Marina

One of our dock customers brought a drone to the marina last week and we had a blast getting cool aerial shots of the marina and Dunhams Bay. While I of course loved all the close ups of the marina, I think my favorite was this shot looking south and seeing the serpentine stream that exits Dunhams Bay. You don't realize how far it continues on until you see it from above.

While we really can't complain about the weather because of what an amazing summer we had, this week has been a bit of a bummer. Really heavy winds yesterday and today and rain prior to that has meant not much boating lately. We've got a few good weeks left and hoping for a couple of those 75 degree late September/early October days for some Lake George leaf peeping!

Fall Boating Coming Soon

If you look at the 10-day forecast, you will see plenty of days left with high temps in the 80s, so fear not the boating and swimming weather will continue well into September! However, we are already starting to notice some cooler mornings and evenings here on Lake George. Our staff tends to stay in their long sleeves for the first couple hours of the day.

Have no fear though, we have you covered with a great selection of long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts in the ships store! Stay warm and represent Queen Boat Co while doing it! We also have a great online store for anyone who wants to rock the Queen logo but can't make it to the marina.

Another Beautiful Day!

Well, yesterday it rained, and there wasn't much boating. But the morning after the storm is usually a good one and today was no exception! This summer has been INCREDIBLE with one good boating day after another. There are still a couple of weeks before kids are officially back in school so we expect some busy days ahead still. Sadly, all of our college student teammates have already headed back to campus and we miss them already. Fortunately we have some great team members who are with us through the fall to make sure our customers and boat club members do not see a difference in the level of service we provide.

The water levels on Lake George had gotten really low. The rain helped just a bit but we are still telling everyone to take a little extra precaution out there when they are in shallow water because there are plenty of places that may have been trouble free in May and June but will result in damage right now.

We hope you have plans to get out on your boat at least a few more times this summer!

Celebrating A Great Team

We closed the marina on Tuesday to celebrate our dedicated, hard-working team. They bust their butts all summer long providing friendly service at the docks and getting our service customers' boats back in the water fast. We got a spot on Speaker Heck, did some swimming and water sliding, then had a BBQ on the roof deck. Great time was had by all and we can't thank this crew enough for how much they do for us and our customers!

August Boating

The weather trend from July keeps on going and August is off to a great start! It seems like when the calendar turns to August, people start thinking about back to school but we still have more than 2 months of great boating left here on Lake George. The water temps are in the low to mid 70s and it is the best time for a lake swim. We know a lot of families with young kids have had a July full of travel sports and camps and now get to settle into a month of lake life before school.

We will be sending out our winterization form soon as we do start to plan our schedule around Labor Day.

Amazing Month of Boating!

July has just been....spectacular! The weather has been perfect. Sunny and warm just about every day it seems. Water temps are ideal for swimming, fish bite has been decent, wind has not kicked up too much. This is one of the best Lake George boating months we have had in a long time and we are seeing it in fuel sales and boat clubs trips - people are taking advantage!

We did have some relief at the pump over the past couple weeks as prices came down $0.40 off their peak. Hopefully, that trend continues. But luckily it hasn't stopped boaters from making summer memories on the lake.

Here's to hoping for more of the same in August!

Sunset Paint and Sip Event!

Thank you Saratoga Paint and Sip for helping our aspiring artists create their own work of art depicting the best view on Lake George! Attendees enjoyed the food and drink of their choosing while painting the view from our deck of Dunhams Bay, while looking out at the view! Many people have tried the Paint and Sip experience at the studio, painting from a picture. The uniqueness of painting in nature was phenomenal. Kudos to Lexy for getting this set up and organized.

The heat has continued to keep boaters boating. July has been a truly exceptional weather month and it looks like more of the same ahead. Hope we see you over the weekend!

Trivia Night

Roof Deck Trivia

We hosted our first Trivia Night for members and dock customers and it was great! Tim Sokol, from A Venue Entertainment , was our host and provided a lively and challenging series of questions. We are really enjoying the sense of community developing through our event series!

We have just had unbelievable boating weather all month. The Lake has still felt relatively peaceful for boaters compared to past years and in particular, weekday mornings are just perfect for boat outings. The Freedom Boat Club members start hitting the water at 8am and those first few hours are marvelous.

In other good news, gas prices seem to be coming down and we were able to lower our price for the first time this year. Hopefully, that trend continues and boating becomes a little more affordable again the rest of the summer!

Thursday Night Fireworks Are Back!

One of the great summer traditions on Lake George are the Thursday Night Fireworks. For 10 consecutive Thursdays this summer, starting last night, Lake George puts on a great fireworks display visible from many of the Village restaurants and homes as well as from the water.

The Freedom Boat Club takes a group of members out each week to see the fireworks by boat and it is a truly magical experience!

We have had an amazing stretch of nice weather. The 4th of July weekend was as busy as we've seen the lake in a long time and this weekend coming up looks nice and sunny as well!

Lake George has a great fishery - full of smallmouth and largemouth bass, lake trout, landlocked salmon, and many more abundant species. We hosted a fishing seminar with Lake George charter captain Joe Greco (www.newyorkfishing.com) and he was very generous with all kinds of tips and tricks to get more hookups. Joe talked about how to find fish, what lures and rigs he likes to use, his rod and reel preferences, and so much more. The attendees all left feeling confident that they would have more Fish On this summer thanks to Joe's wisdom.

We also had our first morning yoga session on the deck this week and have really been enjoying how we have been able to help foster a community of boaters and lake lovers using the marina!

Best In Region!

We are so proud of our team for helping us win our third straight Best of Region award! The Glens Falls Post Star runs this contest each year encouraging readers to vote for their favorite businesses in a variety of categories. Our team works so hard to make sure our customers, members and guests all have an amazing experience and it shows. Best Marina on Lake George three years in a row, it is going to be hard to top this!

The weather has been.....rough this month. Lots of windy, overcast and even rainy days. We have noticed a big drop off in boating as a result. We look at it a little differently though. Last year, July was the rainy month, so this year we think we've gotten the bad weather out of the way while kids are in school and are ready for a great summer. We're already seeing a light at the end of the weather tunnel with 3 beautiful days ahead this weekend and more to come for sure.

Freedom Boat Club's Newest Boat!

We have a new boat at the marina that is sure to turn heads. Freedom Boat Club has added a Tahoe pontoon with a waterslide down from the top deck! We are getting lots of questions about it from our gas customers when they pull up to the fuel dock and have a feeling that when it is out on the water every day, it'll be the envy of every young kid (and kid at heart) on the lake! Weather has been perfect on Lake George this week and school is almost out, time for the lake to feel like summer!

Memorial Day is a very important holiday, a day to honor all those who sacrificed to ensure our way of life. It also doubles as the unofficial start of the summer boating season on Lake George. Don't let this picture fool you, our staff busted their boats all weekend helping people enjoy the long weekend! Water temps are getting warmer and the fishing has been good. Weekdays are still quiet until school is out so these early season weekday mornings in particular are some of the best times to enjoy boating on Lake George.

We're ready for another big weekend as the weather looks nice and other activities are nearing their end, leaving boating to be the primary source of recreation for many.

We have stocked the store full of goodies! Come get your Martha's Dandee Cream ice cream sandwiches, Snickers, King Cones, Spongebob pops and more! What a great treat on a hot day. We have also finished setting up the apparel and snack shack with candy and chips so come on in.

Memorial Day weekend is such an exciting time as the 'unofficial' kickoff to the boating season. While plenty of boats are in the water in late April and early May, there is very little use until we hit Memorial Day. Unfortunately, Saturday looks like a bad weather day but the forecasts for Sunday and Monday look great so we hope to see lots of boating friends this weekend!!

And we thank all those who gave their lives providing us the freedom to enjoy boating on this Memorial Day.

Does Spring Even Exist in Lake George?

It seems like it is either summer or fall up here. We had a really great few days last week with warm weather in the 80s and we are back to long sleeves this week in the 50s and windy. Where is that nice 70 degree calm spring weather???

The electric motor dealership has been hot and the ePropulsion and Torqeedo models are starting to fly off the shelf. We have also had some preliminary discussions about putting a fast charger at the marina which would be great!

So Great to See Our Boaters Back In Action

The weather this week is amazing! Yes, it is chilly in the morning but the afternoons are glorious and the lake has been nice and calm. We are even supposed to get into the 80's starting tomorrow! Hopefully lots of you can take advantage and get out on the water. We are happy to be welcoming back our Freedom Boat Club Lake George friends and see some familiar faces using the boats again. Our gas dock has been getting busier as more boats are splashed and our store is all set up and full of great boating items and Queen Boat Co apparel.

The marine supply chain is still feeling slow so if you have work you want done that will require parts, get it scheduled with time to spare because delivery timelines are all over the place.

Our electric motor dealership is heating up with lots of interest in the Torqeedo and ePropulsion products, particularly the ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 and Torqeedo Travel 1103 for sailboats. We're really enjoying the conversations we are having with all the interested customers about why they are interested in electric propulsion. It is an exciting space to be in!

Boats are Boating!

We love seeing boats on the water!

Early May is always hit or miss when it comes to boating weather (70 and sunny can become 50 and rainy real quick, like today). But there are at least a few great boating days early in the month and we are happy to already see some people taking advantage of it. Our service team is getting boats out the door and to their summer dock homes as fast as possible. The Freedom Boat Club has started training its new members. We love this about FBC, all new members go through a class that includes classroom training and importantly, on-the-water instruction with a captain. The members do a great job operating the boats safely and navigating into and out of our marina.

Docks are starting to go in around the different camping and picnic islands and buoys are getting placed. Hopefully a lot of the big debris that finds its way into the lake at the start of each year has been 'discovered' and hauled out.

I think we are ready to say boating season is here, just not ready to say swimming season is yet!

Good news, we are OPEN! It feels like we just shut the doors in the fall and now we are back at it. The fuel dock is open pumping 91 octane non-ethanol. The ships store is stocked. Staff is trained and ready to go. It is going to be an amazing summer!

A Little Winter Weather Can't Slow Us Down

What a wild week! We had a big snow storm to start off the week which dumped about 5 inches of wet, heavy snow on us. The Freedom Boat Club had already launched their boats and they got a bit wet....but hey they are boats and they dry.

We kept up our launch schedule and got to enjoy some beautiful snow capped peaks while getting boats to their docks.

It's not too late to schedule your spring work, we want to make sure everyone starts off the season with a well tuned motor so we don't see them during the prime boating months on land instead of where they belong, in the water.

Our fuel dock and ships store are now open and we are getting more and more cool stuff for the store. Come in and check out the sweet Queen Boat Co apparel!

Boats Are In The Water!

YES!!!! It is finally that time of year and we have gotten busy launching boats. Granted, you may notice that Travis is wearing a winter hat to get from the launch ramp to the marina but hey, the sun is out and we know people are eager to get boating. There aren't many boats out there yet but over the next couple of weeks we expect to start seeing some action.

We got our first fuel delivery, and as expected, prices are up. While we hope this doesn't last all summer, we do recognize that the price of boating will increase for our customers. Here is a good article on increasing your fuel efficiency while boating! Making sure the motor is running right and is properly propped is a good first step.

We'll have more exciting things happening at the marina soon as we get our store open and staff back in action.

Roofdeck Season

When the ice goes out, the furniture goes in! We don't waste any time getting the marina ready for the spring and warmer weather. We have been hard at work this week cleaning and un-winterizing all of our systems. We even had our first new boat delivery yesterday. Spring Commissioning boats in storage will begin this week as well to make sure we can get all these boats in the water as soon as possible! Before you know it, you'll be tied up to a mooring ball in Sandy Bay relaxing the day away.

We have partnered with Lakeaholic this year to sell some really cool Lake George clothing. The store will be open by the end of the month and we'll have everything you need and plenty that you don't but still can't live without.

Ice Out In Dunhams Bay

No Ice In Dunhams Bay!

It's an exciting time of year, no visible ice in Dunhams Bay! It was a nerve-wracking few days as a northwest wind blew big slabs right at us but we avoided and major dock strikes. We had one dock to repair but luckily the team from Adirondocks got right on it, spending days in the cold water doing the repairs. Those guys earn their paychecks. Our service team was hard at work getting ice eaters positioned and physically breaking up ice as it came in to protect our docks and make sure our customers would have their spot ready in just a few weeks when boats go in. There is still ice on the main lake so we are not totally in the clear yet but with 50 degree plus temps expected over the next few days, the hope is that it thins out enough even if it moves in to our bay. While we are happy about our docks, we do feel for those who were not spared by Mother Nature this year and hope everyone can get their docks repaired quickly and can start enjoying the boating season as soon as the weather allows.

And for some, as soon as the weather allows is now as there have been some boat sightings on Lake George even in the almost freezing temperatures the last couple days! My guess is we'll see a handful out this weekend. It is hard to not get started after our long northern winters!

Almost Feels Like Spring

We're in the middle of a nice stretch of warmer weather and have hopes that winter is going to be in the rearview mirror soon! There is still plenty of ice on the lake but our bay is opening up more and more. Don't get any ideas though, we won't be launching boats just yet!

Our boat club opened up the reservation system earlier this week and judging by the amount of boats booked, it is going to be another busy year. Demand for boating will still be high which is great to see.

Connected Boating With Siren Marine

The Internet of Things is everywhere. From your car to your fridge you are likely experiencing how being connected makes you life easier in someway. My 4 year old loves saying 'Google, play Encanto' and our Google Home speaker fires right up! I love that my car tells me my tire pressure on demand.

Luckily, all the benefits of the IoT are now available to boaters. We have seen some version of this story time and again - boater lets boat sit for 3 weeks in between use, arrives to the busy marina Saturday morning with a group of people ready for a big day on the water only to find that the bilge pump hadn't been working properly during the past two storms and now their day is delayed while we try to get a service tech to fix it when we are already two weeks out for work.

We have partnered with Siren Marine to install remote monitoring systems that give you all the info you need on an easy-to-use cell phone app. It tracks things like fuel usage and course while you are operating and can give you notifications if something is wrong when you are not at the boat. And you can easily share these with our service team so that when you arrive, we will have already addressed the issue!

Electric Motors Heating Up

Electric Motors Are Here For Real

The boat industry tends to trail the auto industry by 5 or so years when it comes to technology that can be mass produced, but it looks like electric motors are really ready to make a splash. At the Miami Boat Show this past week, Mercury unveiled it's new concept Avator electric motor, slated for release later this year. Correct Craft launched its Ingenity all electric day boat. Vision Marine and Torqeedo updated their outboards. And ePropulsion has been growing its dealer network while Flux Marine is ready to introduce their outboard to the market this year. On top of all that General Motors invested $150million in Pure Electric and have started producing an all electric pontoon! It is safe to say, the technology is here and time will tell if consumer demand will meet the innovation happening in this space.

If you are interested in learning more about electric boating, we would love to chat! We sell Torqeedo and ePropulsion motors and will soon be a Torqeedo service center. We will also have a Flux Marine outboard in our boat club fleet.

While we don't think traditional gas motors are going to disappear, we do think that there is a segment of the boating population who will appreciate the clean, emission-free, quiet ride of electric boats and want to help them get on that journey!

Lake George Ice Castles

We had a blast visiting the Lake George Ice Castles over the weekend and hope that they make this an annual tradition. Lake George is continuing to grow as a year round destination and events like this are a big help.

The Winter Carnival is also off to a great start and all the different hotel ice bars are rocking. Combine that with some good skiing conditions at nearby Gore and West Mountain and why wouldn't you want to make a visit here in February AND in the summer!

Winter Is Here and Lake George Is Frozen

The (hopefully) annual frozen lake has arrived and it looks like the official date will be just before the calendar turned to February. Just in time for all of the Winter Carnival activities! It has been COLD! We're definitely starting to see a lot more ice fishing action and even some ice sailboats.

Our Freedom Boat Club members are enjoying some great warm weather reciprocal boating and we have enjoyed seeing their pictures of boating destinations like Ft. Lauderdale, Naples, Tampa and many more. Nice to know there are some people escaping the cold.

The boating industry continues to see crazy demand. Many brands are already selling slots into 2023 and we have made sure to stock up our parts inventory well ahead of time this year so we have as much as we can on hand and don't have to keep our customers off the water in the summer waiting for parts.

It is weeks like this that make us treasure our boating season even more!

The Freeze is Coming

We have had some VERY cold days on nights the past few days which has led to some good initial ice formation. While it is not yet thick enough to head out on, it's certainly a good start to the deep freeze we all hope for. Before you know it, Lake George will be dotted with ice fishing huts.

Speaking of ice, Lake George will soon be opening an amazing new attraction that we can't wait to bring our kids to, the Ice Castles. They have been taking shape all month and will soon be ready for public viewing. Check it out here

What a difference a week can make!! From a sunny warm day to a beautiful winter wonderland. Adam captured an amazing sunset on Monday. The colors in the sky were stunning enough but then reflected off the icy water was an absolute treat. It is a good reminder of what a special place we live in all year round.

No Ice Yet!

It is mid-December and no trace of the deep cold we will need for ice formation. Monday this week was a spectacular day, almost felt like we should be boating! Sun was out, lake was flat, and the light hit the marina just right for us to get one of our favorite pics of the updated marina so far.

We do want a deep freeze soon as this actually helps maintain the health of the lake. And now our ice eaters will be running sustainably all winter so we really don't mind it! Of course, we do keep our fingers crossed come spring when the ice out begins but that is for another day.

Solar Installation Complete

We worked with Kasselman Solar to develop a rooftop system that will provide us with 100% of the energy we need for our electricity usage. With more and more interest in electric boats, we felt it was important to have sustainable energy charging them. The 445W LG NeON2 panels look great on the roof. In our quest to become one of the most environmentally friendly marinas in the region, this is a great step!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

We hope you are able to spend time with family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving. Maybe you will recount some of the great memories you made together this year boating. We know we sure will! We are so thankful for all of our staff, customers, members and everyone who helps us provide a great boating experience on Lake George.

Many of the Freedom Boat Club members are still in boating mode as they vacation in the south or out west. With over 300 clubs to choose from, the boating season never really ends for Freedom members!

The Final Touch

The last little touch is complete and now our marina feels like home. The Queen Boat Co lettering facing the lake gives an elegant look to boaters as they come into the bay. We are in winter mode now, finishing up all of our shrink wrapping for winter storage. The off season is a great time for us to improve our business and we have some really exciting projects underway to make our marina the best it can be in 2022!

The countdown to ice in is on. We always hope for a good deep freeze, it is good for the lake's water quality. And then we keep our fingers crossed in the spring that ice out does not do any damage.

It has been great to see more and more activity in and around Lake George in the winter months as businesses get creative driving traffic to the region.

Freedom Boat Club Franchise Conference

Every year, the franchise owners get together for our annual Conference. This year, we are in Cape Coral, FL. It is a great week of networking, learning, sharing best practices, and getting energized to make improvements to our operation during the off season. It is also a great chance to demo some new boats (though not the ones in this picture) and see a different type of boating. I gotta say, I'd still take Lake George boating every time. The marina outside the hotel this year had some pretty incredible boats docked, don't see these on LG!

Fall Colors

What a treat to view the fall foliage on Lake George every year! We've got some great colors here in the bay and even with the cold nights, we still have an abundance of leaves on the trees. Haven't had much boating weather lately with rain, cold temps and high winds on any given day. But from the marina we are still enjoying the foliage show!

Our service team remains hard at work taking care of customer's boats and getting them ready for winter storage. It is no easy task, racing against Mother Nature to drain and fog engines, get boats shrink wrapped, and make sure they are ready for hibernation before the freezing temperatures come and snow starts to fall. And the cold, wet conditions don't make their job any easier. Lots of credit to this team for making sure all of your boats are safely stored and ready to enjoy when spring comes!

Marina Makeover Complete!

It's Done!

Almost 2.5 years since we first walked into the offices of Phinney Design Group in Saratoga to discuss renovating our marina, we can proudly look at a completed project. And we couldn't be happier with how it came out. The building is beautiful and the deck looking out on the lake is a premier spot. The team of people working on it, from Phinney, to BBL, C&S Siding, and many more tackled huge challenges in renovating an old building, over the water, on a tight lot, with lots of moving parts and supply chain issues. We have really enjoyed watching people already use the space to gather, meet other boaters, enjoy time with family and connect even more with the lake.

Next year, this amenity will be for our dock customers, the Freedom Boat Club members, and their guests. We will have a packed schedule full of fun events as we build our Queen Boat Co boating community.

Roof Deck Event!

Our First Roof Deck Event!

We finally got our CO and were able to use our roof deck for our first event! We partnered with Common Roots Brewing to put on a beer and food pairing event. It was awesome! The weather was perfect - just warm enough, calm, beautiful sunset, and no rain. The beer and food were even better. Rich from Common Roots brought four different beers for our members to try and a separate food pairing for each. The food was all locally sourced and delicious. And Rich was very informative as our members learned a lot about the different types of beer and how Common Roots makes them. Shreddie was a fan favorite IPA, Fritzi hit the spot as we enter October, the Lager was a great way to kick it off, and I think most of us were surprised at how delicious Beermosa was having not had much experience drinking sour beers.

We can't wait to get more events under our belt as our vision of this being a great spot to meet other members, socialize, and partner with local businesses comes to light!

Our Dream Coming True!

We are closing in on project completion and could not be more excited! The deck is done, the railings and stairs are done, the stair tower exterior is done. All that is left now is the roof lines over the deck and some interior finishes. And it is a beauty! We will be proud to call this our home for many years to come.

September has delivered some amazing boating days so far. Plenty of sunshine, calm and quiet Lake, and pleasant temperatures. Not too hot, not too cold, and we haven't had a ton of rain.

We are excited to host our friends from Common Roots brewery next week for our first event on the new deck. And it will be the first of many as we use that space for all kinds of fun things in the future!

Happy Labor Day!

Today was a great start to the long weekend. And tomorrow looks to be a nice sunny Lake George day as well. For many people, Labor Day is the beginning of the end of their boating season but to us, this represents some of the best boating of the year! Our boat club is open through Columbus Day and that is when many of our dock customers stay in the water until as well. The water temps are great and the boat traffic is down, a formula for memorable days on the water.

We are about two weeks out from completion of the marina renovation. The railings are just about up and the deck and looking good. The elevator is in and upstairs bathrooms are done. Some more finish work on the siding, stairs to the deck, and some interior work and we will have our dream complete!

We hope you have a happy holiday weekend and enjoy time on the water with family and friends!

Deck Almost Complete

The Finish Is In Sight

As September approaches, so does the countdown to project completion! The upstairs bathrooms are complete. The exterior is almost done. The deck will be finished this week and then the lake elevation will get finished up. We're getting excited as we can now pretty confidently say the marina makeover will be complete in a month!

We've had another great stretch of boating. The Hurricane did not end up causing the storms we thought we were going to get and we had nothing more than a drizzle in an otherwise wonderful boating weekend.

We are always so busy cleaning boats, pumping gas, and taking care of members that sometimes we forget how lucky we are to work on Lake George, the most beautiful lake in the country (world?). That's why every once in awhile, when the boats are in and things are calm, we make sure to look out and admire what we have here.

On the marina renovation side of things, we've continued to make great progress. The upstairs bathrooms are just about done, the siding is getting close to completion, we've had some additional electrical and plumbing work completed, and the final material delivery is expected on Monday. We are keeping our fingers crossed to stay on track for Labor Day-ish completion.

This week has brought a break from the hot sunny August we have had. We are in the middle of a couple of days of rain and very cool mornings. Summer is far from over so don't let the cool mornings deter you from boating!

Dock Staff Appreciation

Staff Appreciation

We are fortunate to have the friendliest, hardest-working team on Lake George. Our service team, dock team, and managers are all dedicated to providing the best customer service possible and it shows in the happiness of our guests. Yesterday, we spent the day enjoying tacos from Ty's Taco-Ria before heading out on a couple boats to enjoy the Lake. We docked at Speaker Heck Island for a picnic and some of the gang went out wakeboarding. It was a beautiful day to celebrate how proud we are of our entire staff.

The Lake has been heating up. Several days in a row of sunshine and temps nearing the 90s have meant lots of boat action. The marina is looking great. The stair tower siding is almost complete as the trim has been installed along with the barn boards. The lake elevation is coming along too. The upstairs bathrooms have flooring installed and the roof on the stair tower is complete. Hopefully a few more weekly updates and we are all done!

East Elevation Complete

East Elevation Complete!

The painters were here today and finished up the East Elevation, facing the road. We love it! The white board and batten looks great with the gray painted concrete. And the lights class it up a bit. The lake facing elevation is starting to look really cool too. Windows and doors are in and trimmed and the siding is about half done.

We've had some excellent weather this week. Finally some consecutive sunny days, and not too windy or rough. The fishing has been good and a Freedom Boat Club member caught a 35" pike today! It's really hard to believe we are already a week into August. It is flying. Next Tuesday the marina will be closed for our staff appreciation day. We've been rained out 3 years in a row so hopefully we get a sunny day to celebrate what a great team we have here!

Deck Nearing Completion

Our Deck Is Coming Together!

The multi step deck assembly is coming together. Here was the final assembly before the rubber was added so that water doesn't drip down to us working below. We've got the siding on the east elevation complete and the roof on the stair tower going in today.

The weather on Lake George was much improved this week with some beautiful sunny days. Hope it continues though the weekend. We have our first food truck event happening on Sunday (weather permitting) with Red Wagon BBQ serving up delicious food dockside from 12-3p.

By this time next week, the siding should be done all around and the chair lift should be installed. This will let us get our marina store back up and running!

Exterior Elevation Update

We're making some great progress with the exterior elevations. The board and batten east elevation is in and looks great. The south elevation is being worked on now with the board and batten on the main building and barn board on the stair tower. We love the contrast, and the rustic Adirondack look of the stair tower really pops!

It's been.....rainy on Lake George. July will go down as one of the rainiest on record. BUT, we've got a very optimistic looking 10 day forecast ahead and hopefully we can start making up for the lack of good boating days. Today is a really good start! The water level rose a half foot or so over the last week with all the rain. Go to your marinas, re-tie your boats and check your bilge pump and battery!

The boat club has a new Bennington tritoon getting delivered tomorrow and it is the first Model Year 2022 we'll be adding to the fleet. It is always exciting to see the improvements made year to year.

Custom Torqeedo Install

Custom Torqeedo Project

We were thrilled to be contacted by a customer who was restoring a 60 year old Alumacraft for use on Galway Lake. Galway Lake is electric only and has a 3hp maximum so the Torqeedo Travel 1103 was a perfect option for him. He wanted to be able to drive the boat from the helm which required a remote throttle install. To make use of the steering wheel, we had to do some creative engineering and custom fabrication. It was a great project and something we hope we can replicate for others on electric only lakes!

The 4th of July has come and gone. It was a mixed bag for boating on Lake George over the holiday weekend. Friday and Saturday were a bit dreary and did not see much boat traffic until things cleared up a bit late Saturday afternoon. Sunday and Monday were great and the revelers were out on their boats in full force! The fireworks over Lake George were great and we would have been having our first boat club fireworks cruise tonight if not for the weather. We have also started having anchoring classes for the boat club which have been a hit as this is sometimes an overlooked but necessary skill.

Summer Is Here!

Who needs fireworks when the sky lights up like this on its own! We've made lots of progress in the past week and are getting excited to view Lake sunsets from this deck. Plumbing, check. Electric, check. Fire alarm, check. Security camera wiring, check. Elevator shaft, check. Exterior staircases in progress. We’ve been busy on lots of the behind the scene things and soon you’ll be seeing more of the exterior finishes happening like siding, railings, etc.

This past week we experienced some serious heat and humidity. The staff did a great job battling through and making sure our service did not slip as they sweated through the day. The lake water is warming up and we are seeing a lot more swimming, tubing, and watersports.

The service department just finished up a really fun Torqeedo project, rigging a Travel 1103 motor to a 60+ year old AlumaCraft including steering and throttle control from the helm.

Life is good right now on Lake George!

Summer is Here!

Summer 2021 is here and it is off to a great start! The boating weather has been phenomenal and Lake George is heating up. We have seen more boat traffic and with the water warming up, all the fun boating activities are getting a bit more enjoyable. More boats have been going out with tubes and skis. More people are enjoying a dip in the Lake. And the local waterfront restaurants are getting towards their in season hours. It sure feels like summer and we couldn't be happier!

On the marina side, this week we have tackled plumbing, security system wiring, and begun the staircases down from the deck. Material lead times are still a frustration but the crews have been busy regardless.

Our service department continues to take in more and more work and the electric motor sales are really taking off!

With school getting out, we are now fully staffed as much of our team consists of teachers and students. Come for a visit and meet our friendly team!

Stair Tower Roof Is On

As we wait for siding and some other materials which are slow to get delivered, we are still making some good progress. Some great architectural details are coming together including the stair tower roof, pictured.

The boating on Lake George has been great. This past weekend was a banner one weather wise, though this week has been a bit wet and cold again. Hopefully after this, the summer is here to stay. School will be getting out soon and we expect things to start picking up more 7 days a week instead of just the busy weekends.

Gas prices crept up again but hopefully this is the last increase we'll see. Our service shop is rocking and expanding our capabilities every week. We've enjoyed working on some big projects this spring aside from the regular commissioning.

Window Installation

Our focus this week was finishing the sheathing and getting windows installed. With the windows in, it is really starting to look like the vision we had going into it.

Memorial Day weekend was a bit of a bust for Lake George boaters. The cold and rainy weather kept most people off of the lake although we did get one afternoon of sunshine on Monday. Things have picked up a bit this week with great boating weather Tuesday and Wednesday and the weekend ahead looks glorious! We see 4 straight highs of 90 degrees plus coming and have a feeling we are in for a crazy stretch of boating traffic, just what we are hoping for!

Our service department has been cranking out service and repair jobs and firing on all cylinders. We have sold three electric motors and are helping with custom installs as well. We are looking forward to the 'peak' season and are ready for it!

Lake Facing Facade

Facade Almost Complete

The siding is almost finished on the facade that will be facing the lake. The windows will be in soon. We love how this side of the building is coming together and it is going to be a perfect representation of our brand for all the boats coming in from the lake. We'll have Queen Boat Co in sign letters facing the lake as well. Every week we get more and more excited to see the final product!

This weekend usually marks the first real busy week of the summer boating season. This year, the forecast for Memorial Day weekend is not so hot though. Cold temps and rain may keep boaters off the lake this weekend but we were spoiled by some great weather through the last two weeks. Here's hoping the meteorologists are wrong and even if it's a bit chilly, it stays dry on Lake George this weekend!

Freedom Boat Club has opened for the 2021 season

Twenty of our slips are rented to the Freedom Boat Club Lake George, a membership boating club providing access to a fleet of new boats and over 290 reciprocal locations around the world. Monday was the opening day for the club and we have already had some great boating days, especially today! It looks like the weather will continue to warm up as we head into the weekend and we are looking forward to seeing lots of happy members on our docks all summer long!

Our New Entryway

We have made a major upgrade of our entry way to the marina. We replaced cracked, uneven asphalt with beautiful permeable pavers. These not only look nice, but will be safer to walk on and will be much better for storm water mitigation. All these little improvements are making a big difference in how welcoming our marina is going to be!

Preventing Stormwater Runoff

We have been focused on doing our marina makeover in an environmentally friendly way. After our initial infrastructure projects which included excavating an underground fuel tank and replacing it with an above ground tank and building a new wastewater removal system, we knew we had to tackle stormwater runoff. Stormwater runoff can be a major detriment to the water quality of Lake George and our engineers came up with an extensive plan to lessen the amount of stormwater our marina puts into the lake. Included in this plan is a gutter system along the roof which feeds into this massive drywell so the water cannot run right into the lake. We are excited to be taking these steps to help keep Lake George clear and clean!

Lots of Excitement As Marina Makeover Continues

It has been a productive few weeks with construction ramping up. The demo crews have gotten the exterior siding and roof off the deck. Site work has begun. Framing is well along with the interior upstairs mostly complete. Electricians have been on site prepping, and chasing old wires. The old roof was taken off and new shingles put on in a day! Zip sheathing us up and it's just been so exciting to watch the progress day in and out!

After two plus years of planning, designing, engineering and permit approvals, construction is finally underway on our marina makeover! Working with Phinney Design Group and BBL, we've got a great team in place to turn Queen Boat Co into the premier boating destination on Lake George. The highlight will be our 1800 sq. ft. roof deck overlooking Dunhams Bay. You will have a hard time finding a better place to relax and watch the sunset than here!

Ice is Coming

It has been a slow start to the winter freeze. Typically we like a good deep freeze to help rid the lake of some of the invasives and other harmful organisms that thrive in warm water. Although, it of course does make us hold our breaths all spring as the ice goes out and we keep our fingers crossed for our docks to stay unharmed. It is so beautiful at the Lake this time of year. The small snow storm yesterday left us with great scenery of white roofed boathouses and snow covered trees.

Happy New Year from Queen Boat Co!

Happy New Year! The one positive that came out of 2020 was seeing so many new people using boating to escape the everyday of the pandemic life. We've seen time on the water with family and friends have a great impact on people as a way to enjoy themselves and make memories that would otherwise be tough to make during social distancing and quarantines. What a storm!

Some areas in our region got close to 3 feet of snow. We weren't quite there but it sure did dump on us. It reinforces to us how beautiful Lake George is any time of year. And it gets us excited about a white Christmas!

As the year comes to a close, we hope that everyone can look forward to a 2021 that sees us getting to the other side of covid, getting through economic and health hardships, and still allows for plenty of time spent boating!

We are in peak foliage season and the colors over the marina are spectacular!

Though many boats have already hit the land for the winter, those who are sticking it out have enjoyed some peaceful, colorful days (albeit a little chilly). Torqeedo Install

Torqeedo Electric Motor and Batteries.

We just finished our first big Torqeedo project, installing a Torqeedo Cruise 4.0 outboard and two Power 48-5000 batteries onto a Canadian Electric Boat Volt. We hope to do many more of these types of projects on Lake George to build up the popularity of electric motors! There are so many great benefits to this type of propulsion for our clean lake here. And good to see the Freedom Boat Club will be our guinea pig!
